By following these simple care and maintenance guidelines, you protect your investment, maintain your warranty, and ensure many successful years with your Kate King Vibrational Gemstone Jewellery.

Energetically Cleansing and Charging Your Gemstones

Vibrational gemstones collect energy as you wear them, so it is important to cleanse and charge them regularly. Just as a phone needs recharging, so do your gemstones.

With your purchase you have received a charging kit containing Selenite and Lemurian Quartz, which cleanse and charge your stone simultaneously. Keep the charging stones in their separate plastic bag at all times. There is no need to remove them from the bag as they work through the plastic.

After wearing your pendant, place it into the plastic storage bag provided. This protects it from damage and oxidation beneath the metal plating. Always store your chain separately from your pendant.

You can place your pendant on top of the charging kit, or store both together inside your velvet pouch or box.

You cannot over-cleanse or over-charge your stones. If you miss a session, a quick charge of 15 to 30 minutes before wearing is enough to restore your stone's frequency.

Moldavite can also be re-energized by exposing it to direct sunlight for 30 minutes per week, though the charging kit handles this as well.

Care and Storage of Fine Jewelry 

Proper storage is the single most important thing you can do to maintain the beauty and longevity of your jewelry.

  • Store your pendant in its plastic zipper bag provided bag when not wearing it. Tarnish is oxidation beneath the metal plating that can seep through to the surface over time. The bag prevents this.
  • Always store your chain separately from your pendant to avoid scratching the stone or setting.
  • Never store your pendant in direct contact with the charging stones or chain.
  • Keep your jewelry in a cool, dry area. Heat can affect gemstone color and integrity. Do not leave pieces on a fireplace mantle or in prolonged direct sunlight.

What to Avoid

  • Do not clean your stones with salt. Salt energetically strips the stone and can damage the setting.
  • Do not wear your jewelry in the ocean, hot tub, hot spring, or swimming pool. Salt, sulphur, and chemicals are damaging to fine jewelry and metal plating.
  • Do not shower or sleep in your jewelry. If you forget occasionally, simply wipe your pendant with a clean, soft cloth to remove any soap residue or skin oils.
  • Do not use silver dip, chemical silver cleaners, toothpaste, or ultrasonic cleaners. These will void your warranty.

Cleaning Your Fine Jewelry

We recommend cleaning your jewelry once a month to keep your pieces sparkling and protected from tarnish. We recommended "Organically Yours" jewelry cleaner, suitable for fine gemstones and precious metal plating.  it is gentle and non aggressive.  

Warranty Fine Jewelry Reminder

Following these care guidelines keeps your Kate King Jewelry warranty valid. The warranty covers manufacturer defects for one year from the date of purchase. It does not cover natural oxidation of plating, damage from improper care, or use of chemical cleaners.

VINTAGE JEWELRY CARE: 

Vintage jewelry is selected for its beauty, character, and the story it carries. Each piece has lived a life before arriving at Swan Space, and pre-existing wear, patina, and minor surface marks are a natural and expected part of its history. These details are not flaws — they are evidence of age and authenticity.

Please review all listing photos and descriptions carefully before purchasing, as vintage pieces are sold as-is.

What to Expect Vintage jewelry may show signs of age including light surface scratches, slight discoloration, patina on metal, or minor wear to stones and settings. This is normal and part of the appeal of vintage pieces. Swan Space inspects all pieces before listing and notes any significant condition details in the product description.

Brass Jewelry Brass naturally darkens and develops a warm patina over time. To restore its golden tone, gently polish with a soft cloth and a small amount of brass polish or specifically safe brass cleaner. Avoid soaking brass as prolonged moisture can accelerate tarnishing. Never use silver polish on brass as it will not work and may damage the finish.

Sterling Silver Jewellery Silver tarnishes when exposed to air, moisture, and sulfur. To clean tarnished silver, use a dedicated silver polishing cloth or a Sterling Silver cleaner. Do not use toothpaste, bleach, or chemical silver dip on vintage silver as these can strip detail and damage stones. Store silver pieces in an anti-tarnish pouch or wrap individually in acid-free tissue to slow tarnishing between wears.

Gold-Filled and Gold-Plated Vintage Pieces Gold-filled jewelry has a thicker layer of gold bonded to a base metal and is more durable than plated pieces. Gold-plated vintage jewelry has a thinner layer that requires more careful handling. To preserve plating, avoid contact with water, perfume, lotions, hairspray, and cleaning products. Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Do not use polishing cloths designed for silver or brass on plated pieces as these can remove the plating. Once plating wears through, re-plating by a professional jeweler is the only option to restore the finish.

General Vintage Jewelry Guidelines

  • Store each piece individually in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box to prevent scratching between pieces.
  • Remove vintage jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, or sleeping.
  • Avoid exposure to perfume, hairspray, and lotions. Put your jewelry on last when getting dressed.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat, which can affect stones, adhesives, and metal integrity over time.
  • For pieces with set stones, avoid ultrasonic cleaners as the vibration can loosen settings in vintage pieces.
  • If a clasp, setting, or closure feels loose or fragile, take it to a trusted local jewelry for repair before wearing.  Swan Space is not responsible for vintage care.

Signs of wear, minor imperfections, small repairs, slight fading, or gentle marks consistent with age are standard and expected in vintage clothing. These details are inspected and noted in product descriptions where significant, and are part of the authenticity of each piece. Please review all listing photos carefully before purchasing.

What to Expect Vintage garments have often lived full lives before arriving at Swan Space. You may notice softening of fabric, slight variations in colour, evidence of previous alterations, or the natural aging of trims, lace, and embellishments. These are not defects — they are the hallmarks of a genuine vintage piece and contribute to its uniqueness and value.

Laundering Vintage fabrics require special care and results from laundering can vary significantly depending on the fabric, age, dyes, and construction of the garment. Swan Space strongly recommends hand washing in cold water with a gentle detergent, or spot cleaning only, for most vintage pieces. All care such as machine washing and dry cleaning is done entirely at your own risk. Swan Space is not responsible for damage, shrinkage, color loss, or fabric distortion resulting from laundering or wear.

Dry Cleaning Dry cleaning is often the safest option for delicate vintage fabrics including silk, wool, velvet, lace, and beaded or embellished garments. However, dry cleaning results can vary and Swan Space cannot guarantee outcomes. We recommend consulting a dry cleaner experienced with vintage and antique textiles before proceeding. Always mention the age and fabric type of the garment. Swan Space is not responsible for damage resulting from dry cleaning.

Embroidery:  As a general rule we recommend not getting pieces wet that contain embroidery.  It is best to have them dry cleaned by professionals and vintage garments sometimes have threads that are not colorfast.  

Storage

  • Store vintage garments hanging in a breathable garment bag, or folded flat in acid-free tissue paper to prevent creasing and fabric stress.
  • Avoid storing in plastic bags long term, as plastic traps moisture and can cause mildew and fabric deterioration.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
  • Store in a cool, dry environment away from humidity.
  • Cedar blocks or lavender sachets can help deter moths naturally without chemicals.

General Guidelines

  • Handle vintage pieces gently. Seams, closures, and trims on older garments may be more fragile than modern clothing.
  • Avoid excessive stretching or pulling when putting on or removing vintage pieces.
  • Perfume and deodorant can stain and damage vintage fabrics. Allow products to dry fully before dressing.
  • Vintage zippers, hooks, and buttons may require gentle handling. Do not force closures.
